Lewden Electrical Industries has been supplying Electrical Equipment to Industry for over 60 years, established in 1946, Lewden Metal Products as it was then known, developed an expertise in the Metal Die-casting and Machining of products for the Electrical and Components Industry.
The company founders Mr Lewis and Mr Denfield giving their names to what has become a highly recognized Brand in our industry, representing Quality, Service and Reliability.
The history of the company included the manufacturing of Door Furnishings, Motor Industry Components and Lighting, including the still unique and Award winning “Ceiling Maestro”, which still provides a solution for the maintenance of Lighting today.
Occupying several sites in and around Argall Avenue, in East London, Lewden in its history has provided employment for many hundreds of people. Still today Lewden occupies premises in East London from where it Manufactures and Distributes a wide range of Electrical Products for Industry.
Lewden has been Innovative throughout its life introducing many unique and award winning electrical solutions, search out Ceiling Maestro, Split Line, T Line, and the widely specified range of Die-cast Plugs, Sockets and Switches, with the industry acknowledged standard PD prefix.
The 1970’s saw the advent of the Industry European Standard IEC 309 for Plugs and Connectors superseding the BS4343 British Standard, this stimulated Lewden into the design and manufacture of a Plastic moulded range of Plugs, Connectors and Switches to enhance the already well established Die-cast range, the new “Titan” range of products soon became the preferred choice of the Electrical Contractor, establishing Lewden as the market leader in their chosen Sector.
The need for Continuous product development and the drive for value in a Global Market motivated Lewden in 2006 to partner with the well know Italian Electrical Products manufacturer, Palazzoli, itself a strong, well established Brand with a 100 year history in the Italian Market.
This Partnership has provided Lewden with continuity in supplying high Quality economical solutions to the Electrical Industry, and has considerably broadened Lewden’s Product offer to its UK and Export customers.
Lewden and Palazzoli can offer Products for many Construction, Industrial, Marine, Transportation, and hazardous area applications.
Lewden Electrical Industries has also developed an expertise in supplying Electrical Distribution to places where electricity does not exist! Over the last 10 years Lewden has been a significant supplier to the MOD and its Tier 1 suppliers, providing Electrical distribution to the Armed forces personnel involved in various theatres of operation, including Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Lewden designed and manufactured Equipment and systems has been providing electricity to the tented “villages” in these challenging environments.
Lewden’s Custom Build Division has developed a skill and expertise in building Electrical Distribution equipment to meet our customers bespoke requirements, turning our customers sometimes “sketchy” brief into a fully Designed and Engineered solutions.
In 2009 Lewden acquired a Majority share in Kilmarnock based Consumer Protection Equipment manufacturer Controlgear Ltd, this has provided Lewden customers with a range of quality, value for money, electrical products for Domestic and Industrial consumer protection Boards and devices, Controlgear themselves have had a 10 year successful growth in this sector.
Lewden group now has operations in London, Kilmarnock, as well as joint ventures in Brescia (Italy) and manufacturing partnerships in China and India, producing products designed and Engineered by Lewden and their partners.
Lewden’s long history and relationship with the Professional Electrical Distributor both in the UK and in our Export territories, means that we can offer a fast and reliable service to the Installing Contractors, OEM’s and End Users.
